As you may know National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is less than a month away. This is my fourth year jumping into the madness that is NaNo. So far my record is 1-2, with my last win coming in 2010. That was the year I was able to take off almost of the month. I thought I would have that luxury this year, but apparently, the pay job frowns on taking off so much time at once. Instead, I will stagger my days and write like I’m bat-shit crazy on the days I’m off to make up for the days I have to work.

I need to win NaNo this year. I don’t want to come close to winning and I don’t want to win by a few words. I want to smash the 50K barrier and steamroll through the end of the month. I don’t expect to finish the story; it’s growing every day. However, I don’t want to spend my last days slamming the keyboard crawling my way to 50K.

May the even-number-year gods favor me.
