With the Mac experiment over, It’s time for me to go laptop shopping. While I wanted to wait, my daughter needed a laptop and since my Acer 4810T averaged about eight hours of battery — which despite being almost five years old is awesome — she pleaded until I relented and now I’m on the hunt for a new laptop. I could install Linux on the MacBook, but getting the wifi and camera to work can be more trouble than I’m willing to get into right now. Besides, I’m not a huge fan of the keyboard. Not having both a backspace and a delete key is a bit of a deal breaker for me.
The hunt for a new laptop begins. I have a budget of about $400, which isn’t a lot per se, but sufficient for my needs. I need a laptop that a) has a comfortable keyboard, b) decent battery life and c) at least a 13-inch screen. I figure for the money, it’s going to be hard to find a laptop with all three qualities, but I’ll give it a go.
