It’s been over a month since I updated the blog. Had I been more productive during NaNoWriMo, this post would be a little more upbeat. Truth is, this was my worst NaNo since I started in 2009. Starting a new position at my day job, along with dealing with a some family issues — not to mention dealing with everything surrounding Thanksgiving — made November 2013 a bitter taste that still lingers in my mouth.
The worse thing you can achieve in NaNo is writing zero word. You heard me. A fat doughnut. That’s what happened to me. I figured on working on a nonfiction project, but that damn thing called life just kept getting in the way. I need to learn how to deal with disruptions. If I can’t, then I need to just hang up this writing thing and do something else. But I’m not quitting. Just taking a little break.
I want to take a couple of weeks to get my head back in the game. I need to spend a little time away from computers, social networking and their spawn. Maybe I’ll pick up a physical book and read it instead of reading a book on my tablet. Hopefully the break will rejuvenate me and will help me find that excitement that seemed to evade me last month. I have a few posts I need to upload before picking up the keyboard once again. The difference, hopefully, will be that once I pick up the keyboard, I will have a finished project by the time I put it down.
