Day one of Camp NaNoWriMo is in the books and I have to say I felt really good about my start. Since I’m using this time to work on Racing the Rain, I was able to upload the next chapter online. While I have a goal of writing 50,000 words, I don’t feel an overwhelming pressure to get there. Hell, if I get 25,000 words done this month, it’s a win. For me, this month is all about writing regularly.
What’s good about this Wrimo is that I took the time to outline the coming chapters. Nothing super detailed mind you, but just a short sentence about what each chapter is supposed to be about. I think this is a technique I want to adopt for my future novel projects.
This year it seems all of my cabin mates are younger than me. I have children older than my writing mates. I look forward to the experience because a) I believe you can learn from something from everyone and b) Should I ever try my hand at a YA novel, I have beta readers already lined up. A double win if you ask me.
