I’m not going to lie, I have often been critical of Microsoft products. I absolutely hate Windows 8. (Though I believe they’re on the right track with Windows 10.) The Microsoft Word 2013 app for the iPad was useless unless you had an Office 365 subscription. And yes, I will admit to being a little bitter over Microsoft never developing office for Linux
To say I was surprised to hear that users could now download and use Word 2013 on the iPad to create and edit documents is putting it mildly. I actually let out a yelp of joy. I downloaded the app signed in with my Microsoft account and in seconds, I was creating documents, sharing those documents between my iPad and my PC through Dropbox and editing those files on my desktop.
I’m going to spend some time working with the app to see if it’s something that I could use on the iPad permanently. If this is the case, then I’m going to have a hard time justifying carrying a laptop and an iPad.
